The San Francisco-based CompuMentor technology resource group has announced CNET Networks will offer its technology information services to boost the TechSoup.org Web site, which provides technology resources and reviews for the nonprofit sector.
TechSoup.org -- which offers nonprofits "one-stop shopping for their technology needs" -- will use information provided by CNET in the form of articles and news reports, software downloads, links to vendors and other services, and access to CNET’s product reviews and database of technical support information.
"TechSoup users will be able to access up-to-date information on hardware, software, Web building, networking, databases, and Internet connectivity," said Sandra Whisler, TechSoup's project director.
It is the first time CNET has partnered with a nonprofit group to provide information to a targeted sector.
TechSoup.org is available to computer users free of charge, but is intended to help small and mid-sized nonprofits, schools and community groups review up-to-date information on databases, hardware, networking, software, Web site building and Internet connectivity.
CompuMentor has provided tech services and consulting to more than 23,000 nonprofits and schools since 1987.
