Chemical industry tycoon Jon M. Huntsman is giving the money to a University of Utah cancer research institute that bears his name. Huntsman already has given $151 million to the center, and has given tens of millions to other causes nationwide.
Saying his relationship with the University of Oregon -- his alma mater -- has been "shredded," Nike Founder and CEO Phil Knight confirmed he will retract a $30-million pledge to UO's athletic facilities, after the school joined an anti-sweatshop coalition.
