Philanthropy Journal is one of the most progressive online info center for nonprofits. Any organization with a visionary's approach should be linked to PJournal.

This is the best site I have encountered on my search for non-profit orgs. I am planning on establishing a non-profit org. dedicated to educating high school students, in a non-traditional sense, how to overcome the social ills of society (i.e. drug abuse, teen pregnancy, violence, and teen/parent relations).

How does one go about establishing themselves as a non-profit tax status (501)?

Thank you,

James N. Clarke

A feature idea might be our program called Young Women for Change. Which included 50 high school female grantmakers from Detroit and Grand Rapids who over the year have $20,000 to distribute to non-profits. It has been extremely sucessful and has gotten national recognition.

Hi!I'm Judith r. racines from Philippines. I'm here hope you could help me and my organization. I'm into handicrafts manufacturing. My beneficiaries were natives from Agusan del Sur and Tikalaan, Talakag Bukidnon. Majority of whom are mothers and out of school youth children. All lived below the poverty line. But this Mindanao region is rich in natural resources (such as wood, abaca fiber, weeds, buri, straw shells and etc.)But people in low income groups are mostly unskilled or semi-skilled.

Columbine High School (Littleton, Colorado) was one of the first schools in the country to "experiment" with death education. Tara Becker was a Columbine graduate, who was interviewed on ABC-TV's "20/20" program (aired first on September 21, 1990 and again in 1991) about the relentless focus on death, dying, and suicide in her junior class. She and several classmates attempted suicide as a re

I saw Ted Forstmann on one of the morning TV programs. I am a school board member and agree fully with the need for competetion amoung schools to improve our schools. Vouchers are absolutely necessary. The current public financing of school only builds monster bureaucracies of teachers, labor unions, contractors, publishing companys and so on.
