U.S. President Bill Clinton and British Prime Minister Tony Blair plan to field questions from Internet users during a first-ever trans-Atlantic "town hall meeting," scheduled for July 14.
Clinton will answer questions online from a hotel in Baltimore, where he will be addressing a Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) conference.
Blair will participate from his country retreat in England, the Associated Press reports.
The format will be similar to Clinton's Nov. 9 question-and-answer session from the White House, the first such online event between a sitting President and the public. That event also was moderated by the DLC with the help of Excite@Home.
Since then, Clinton participated in a February online chat session moderated by CNN, and on June 24 launched the first Webcast of his weekly address to the people.
All questions will be screened and 150 to 200 politicians from around the country plan ton attend the conference, AP reports.
Participants are expected to discuss methods that could be applied to fight crime, the best ways to govern, and quality of life issues such as urban sprawl, the news service reports.
