The Waterkeeper Alliance, a not-for-profit environmental advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the world's waterways, is looking for an Executive Director to, among other things: manage the group's day-to-day operations; provide strategic leadership; oversee the execution of all programs and projects; facilitate the growth and servicing of the Alliance membership (currently over 60 groups); raise money and oversees the organization's finances; hire and supervise staff; coordinate all national advocacy and litigation efforts; develop a communications and media strategy; and represent and act as a spokesperson for the Alliance. The salary is competitive with similar non-profits and commensurate with experience ($75-110,000); generous benefits package includes PPO (i.e., non-HMO) health insurance, pension plan, and ample paid vacation.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in strategic planning, fundraising, program development and execution, administration, and financial and staff management. Experienced leadership in the non-profit and/or environmental fields, with a strong knowledge and understanding of policy, law and science as they relate to water protection, is strongly preferred but not required. A qualified candidate will possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, as well as strong political, networking and coalition-building abilities.
Desired personal qualities include: sense of humor, creativity, strong public service orientation, high energy level, strong persuasive ability, facilitation capabilities, persistence and excellent organization and time management skills. Start date is ASAP.
