National Association of State Public Interest Research Groups
Los Angeles, CA
With public debate around important issues often dominated by special interests pursuing their own narrow agenda, the State Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs) offer an independent, articulate voice on behalf of the public interest. For 28 years, our mission has been to serve as a public interest "watchdog", uncovering new threats to the environment, consumers and a responsible government; researching and proposing innovative policy solutions; educating and engaging citizens and decision-makers; organizing grassroots support for strong environmental and consumer protection; and working to counter the influence of vested economic interests on state and national institutions.
