Lupus is an autoimmune disease that is chronic in nature. In Lupus, for unknown reasons, the body creates antibodies against its own healthy cells and tissues. This leads to inflammation and damage of various body tissues. Symptoms range from serious fatigue and joint and muscle pain, fever and rash to involvement of any of the bodily organs. There is presently no cure for lupus but symptoms may be controlled with various medications.
