KPMG Foundation expands charter to cover volunteers

KPMG Citing a companywide commitment to community service, the KPMG Foundation -- a charitable arm of KPMG LLP -- has expanded its mission to support volunteerism on a national basis.

The foundation, which previously had concentrated on business education, will expand KPMG's "Involve" program, which helps employees to do volunteer work in their communities.

Partnerships with major nonprofits that foster volunteerism are also in KPMG's future, the foundation reports. The company plans to support these organizations through charitable giving, event sponsorships and volunteering programs.

KPMG will establish a central volunteerism initiative to expand Involve -- which now supports community service in six cities -- on a national basis.

The KPMG Foundation is funded through donations from the company. During the last fiscal year, KPMG gave $5 million to the charitable groups nationwide.
