Berkeley gets $1M from five professors

UC Berkeley Sometimes charity really does begin...at work. Five professors at the University of California at Berkeley are giving the school $1 million to attract top graduate students and faculty members, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The professors founded the Law and Economics Consulting Group, which offers advice on international economics and finance matters.

The $1 million will go to university programs in agriculture, economics, and natural resources business and economics, the Chronicle reports.

The donation will help pay for a joint graduate research seminar in economics and business, along with graduate fellowships and a scholarship fund in the College of Natural Resources. Other projects also will be funded.
